It’s official, Entertainment Blue Mountains has secured Australian performance rights for The Goon Show.

The first season, to be staged as a dinner and show in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, is scheduled for July 2013 as a part of the region’s annual Yulefest (or Christmas in July).

The Goon show, which was primarily created and written by Spike Milligan, was produced and aired by the BBC between 1951 (initially titled ‘Crazy People’) and 1960. Since then, The Goon Show has regularly been broadcast around the world including (still today) on Australia’s Radio National.

Supported by honorary Goon and Blue Mountains’ Mayor, Councillor Daniel Myles, this show will be a major draw-card for the region.

The programme is being finalised, including decisions as to which of the Christmas scripts to be performed, venue and casting. As news becomes available, it will be posted on the EBM website, broadcast via the EBM eNews and on the event’s website which will be announced soon.

All subscribers will be given the first opportunity to purchase tickets when they are released. It is anticipated that tickets will be available in late December 2012, or early January 2013 at the latest.
